Most of Hong Kong tech’s networking happens at evening meetups, many listed on Luma and Meetup. HK Tech Scene follows these calendars automatically: everything below feeds the events page.
Calendars worth following
These community-curated calendars cover a lot of the scene in one place:
- Hong Kong Startup Events Calendar: founder nights, pitch events and workshops, curated by What You Building.
- #HKWeb3 Events Calendar: Web3 and digital asset events, curated by Web3 Harbour and What You Building. It gets very busy around the big conferences.
Groups by topic
AI. AI Tinkerers Hong Kong runs builder-focused meetups with live demos and technical talks rather than pitches. AI Startups HK and the AWS AI User Group are on Meetup.
Developers. The Hong Kong Python User Group, GDG Hong Kong, Microsoft Developers HK and Hong Kong Web Developers (HKWD, on Luma) hold talks and socials. AWS Community Day Hong Kong is the big yearly community-run cloud conference.
Startups and founders. Besides the startup calendar, What You Building runs regular founder events, and the science parks and universities host demo days. See the incubators guide.
Fintech and Web3. Hong Kong’s biggest annual week for the sector is Hong Kong FinTech Week, which in 2026 runs together with the StartmeupHK Festival. Expect dozens of side events on the calendars above.
Getting the most out of meetups
- Go regularly to one or two groups rather than once to ten. People remember faces they see every month.
- Offer to speak. Most organisers are always looking for speakers, and a 10-minute talk gets you more conversations than a whole evening of small talk.
- Bring a clear one-liner about what you build or what you’re looking for.
- Follow up within a day with something useful: a link, an intro, a repo.
Run a group or a calendar that should be here? Add it and its events will show up on HK Tech Scene automatically.
